Guidry News - Monday, December 17, 2012
The Port of Beaumont Board of Commissioners today voted unanimously to award a $569,760 contract to Trans-Global Solutions for the Orange County Rail Yard Automation Project.

The project will provide for remote control of the switching and stops for the port’s Orange County new rail loop.

"This will make the loop state of the art and make for very efficient access for the main line railroads,” Executive Port Director Chris Fisher said.

The board voted to award a $304,216 contract to McInnis Construction for construction of the Carroll Street Wharf Extension Fender System Repair Project.

Fisher said the fender system currently around the wharf has deteriorated and requires replacement.

The board voted to accept the port’s FY2012 Annual Audit Report from the firm of Funchess, Mills, White and Company.

Terry Whiddon, who presented the audit report, said the port received a clean or "unqualified” opinion of its financial records.

The board voted to commit matching funds of approximately $3.8 million for a possible Congestion Mitigation Air Quality Grant award for the Orange County Overpass project.  If awarded, the county will receive $5.2 million in grants for the $9 million project.

The project includes a service road and overpass over the rail lines to the port’s Orange County Terminal.

All items were approved.  All votes were unanimous with all members present.
