On September 18th, thousands of Southeast Texans streamed through the main gate of the Port of Beaumont to enjoy an afternoon of fun, food and festivities as part of the port's 50th anniversary Sail-A-Bration. The guests of honor were U.S. Representative Nick Lampson and former U.S. Representative Jack Brooks, who, as a member of the Texas Legislature, sponsored the bill creating the Port of Beaumont Navigation District in 1949. Special guest was Popeye the Sailorman and his girlfriend, Olive Oyl. These pictures show some of the afternoon's activities.
