Starting March 24, 2020, improved safety measures will be put in place at the Port of Beaumont to include gate screening for all who plan to enter the facility. Additional vessel crew screening measures will also be put into place as a third layer of security, meant to supplement the measures being taken by the U.S. Coast Guard and Customs and Border Protection. The new screening measures will include temporal scan thermometer screening of individuals seeking to enter or exit Port facilities. Individuals with a temperature of 100.5 F or greater will be denied access to the Port of Beaumont, required to fill-out documentation and will be referred to the guidance provided by health care providers in Southeast Texas, which includes medical protocols for COVID-19:
- Call your primary care physician if you experience fever, cough or shortness of breath. Follow all instructions provided by your primary care physician.
- Contact the SETX call center at 409-550-2536 if you are a resident of Jefferson, Hardin, Jasper, Newton or Orange counties and experience fever, cough or shortness of breath. Follow all instructions provided by the call center.
- Do not go to a hospital emergency room or urgent care facility without receiving prior arrival instructions from that medical facility. You will be screened for the flu, strep, respiratory viruses and possibly COVID-19.
In addition to the safety measures going into effect at the Port of Beaumont, all non-essential port employees will be working remotely as of March 24, 2020.
